Catherine O’Doherty

Head of Junior School, Calderwood Christian School

As the driving force behind Calderwood’s remarkable music program, Catherine O’Doherty’s dedication to serving and giving back to the community is palpable. Her tenacity and unwavering positivity inspire excellence and foster positive change within the school. She is particularly excited to have been part of the significant changes at Calderwood over the last five years. With her transformative impact, Catherine energises the community with her beautiful spirit, embodying selflessness and initiative in every aspect of her work.

Catherine is the epitome of excellence for her team of teaching staff, with her commitment to serving the school during her recovery from illness demonstrating her dedication and resilience. Known for her polished approach and meticulous event planning, Catherine ensures smooth coordination of school activities through efficient communication and a clear passion for her work. Leading the Junior School Choir and promoting collaboration among students, she extends pastoral support to both staff and students, fostering a caring and supportive environment throughout the school community.

As Head of Junior School, Catherine maintains a deep connection with her students, emphasising the importance of active leadership in the classroom. As a Music teacher, she takes immense joy in hearing her students perform songs like Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) and Only a Holy God, which not only bring joy to the students but also resonate with the local community for whom they perform. These songs reflect Catherine’s faith, which she carries with her in all aspects of her work. 

Catherine recognises the value of support, celebrating her role in Calderwood’s growth and demonstrating initiative in various endeavours, including organising successful musical productions and contributing to the performing arts in the Illawarra.
