ABOUT THE ROLE

Tangara School for Girls currently has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Head of TAS (Secondary) commencing in Term 1, 2025. This is a permanent Secondary Teacher role, with a leadership component that attracts a Coordinator 1 allowance (CO1) and is fixed for a three year term. Reporting to the Teaching and Learning Coordinator, the Head of TAS provides educational leadership and management of Secondary TAS courses.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Head of TAS (Secondary) will be required to:

  • Coordinate and develop programs for TAS courses, and course overviews (incorporating scope and sequence and assessment schedules) using the prescribed curriculum templates.
  • Monitor the teaching and learning programs for TAS courses.
  • Monitor assessments and examinations for TAS to ensure compliance with relevant policies
  • Student academic management including coordination of reporting and student academic achievement within the department
  • Staff supervision, appraisal and development including fortnightly department meetings
  • Develop and manage the department’s administration, budget and resources

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will need to confidently demonstrate the following key skills and experience:

  • Suitable tertiary qualifications and (ideally) prior experience in leadership roles within a school environment
  • Demonstrable experience in improving teaching, learning and classroom practices
  • Demonstrable experience teaching TAS subjects to secondary students
  • Ability to oversee the delivery of TAS curricula
  • Knowledge of recent developments in TAS curriculum areas and the NESA syllabus, assessment, and reporting requirements

  • The highest ethical and professional behaviour and standards when working with students, parents, and school staff members

  • Ability to introduce and execute ideas to enhance our TAS department
  • Ability to manage pastoral care issues with effective discussion and processes with staff, students, and parents
  • Support the values and ethos of the school
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to meet deadlines
