About the Role
Sydney Grammar School is seeking to employ a suitably experienced candidate for the Lead Archivist and Editor, The Sydneian at our College Street campus.
The Lead Archivist manages an archive defined by the School for the purposes of collecting, accessioning, preserving, conserving and restoring records and materials pertaining to the function and general operation of the School and its wider community. The Archivist will ensure that records which have value as authentic evidence of administrative, corporate, cultural and intellectual activity are made, kept and used. The Archivist makes records and other material held in its collection available to users in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures approved by the School.
The Editor, The Sydneian, is responsible for publishing the annual, report-style periodical produced for the current and wider School community to report on the year’s events and activities at College Street (main secondary campus). Editor of major annual school publication The Sydneian.
Key Attributes:
- Qualified or be willing to undertake a qualification in Archives, Records Management or in a similar field from a recognised tertiary institution
- Eligible or be willing to become a Professional member of the Australian Society of Archivists
- Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of best practice in archives and records management procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of integrity and discretion in accordance with the ASA Code of Ethics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in editing and proofreading written copy for publication
- High level of computer literacy including experience with MS Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat Pro
Commencement date: Immediate Start
