About the Role
Sydney Grammar School is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Facilities. This position is a full-time, permanent role.
The strategic objective of the Facilities Department is to ensure that Sydney Grammar School campuses offer state-of-the-art facilities that provide a first-class experience to pupils and staff.
The Director of Facilities will provide strategic leadership and operational management of all Sydney Grammar School properties, buildings, and infrastructure assets.
Key Duties
The Director of Facilities is responsible for:
- Strategic planning and oversight of the Schools Master plan and associated processes.
- Senior Project Management of capital works projects, new buildings, and refurbishment projects.
- Ensuring strategic Maintenance and asset planning, scheduling and management systems and practices are in place for all key assets.
- Minimise asset failure and extend asset life.
- Strategic procurement policies and processes including creation and management of preferred suppliers’ agreements consolidated across all sites, which deliver cost savings and improved efficiencies and quality of service.
- Senior-level interaction and negotiation with regulatory authorities, government bodies and internal clients.
- Developing policies and procedures to improve the performance of the Facilities Department.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Proven Facilities & Maintenance Management experience, preferably within an educational/public sector environment.
- Experience with implementation and delivery of maintenance planning and management, policies, Asset management plans, risk and asset registers.
- Experience in utilisation of maintenance management systems.
- Experience in strategic master planning.
- Demonstrated experience in the supervision of building works, capital projects, contractor management, and contract preparation/administration. Previous exposure to working with heritage properties and heritage asset management strategies is desirable.
- Major Project Management experience, qualification and/or experience.
- Working knowledge of New South Wales building codes and regulations, Australia Standards, and WH&S legislation.
High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish strong links with key stakeholders as well as the ability to negotiate effectively and work through issues constructively. - Demonstrated ability to maintain effective professional relationships, and key performance indicators and gain cooperation and assistance from contractors, suppliers and all levels of staff and members of the School community.
- Ability to lead a team and ensure their optimum engagement and safety at work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with an ability to communicate and interact positively, effectively and professionally with staff, students, parents and visitors to the School.
- Excellent demonstrated organization of tasks and ability to prioritise effectively.
- High-level initiative and flexibility, with the ability to respond to the changing demands of the position.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Current Full NSW Drivers Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or ability to obtain these upon appointment.
