Position & Purpose
Snowy Mountains Grammar School is seeking to appoint a Snowsports Academy Coordinator on a temporary full-time basis 2 June 2025 – 26 September 2025.
The Coordinator of the Snowsports Academy at Snowy Mountains Grammar School is responsible for leading the vision and overseeing the operation of the school’s snowsports academy program. As a key leader within the Snowy Mountains Grammar School sports department, this role involves mentoring student-athletes across various disciplines and fostering a positive and competitive team culture. The Coordinator will also ensure the program aligns with the school’s strategic priorities, including:
- People and Culture – Creating an environment where student-athletes feel supported, valued and motivated to excel in both individual and team snowsports events
- Learning for Life – Instilling lifelong skills in resilience, adaptability, leadership and performance through comprehensive snowsports training and competition
- Well-Rounded Education – Providing opportunities for students to develop not only as athletes but also as individuals, fostering academic growth, physical fitness and personal growth through the Snowsports Academy program
Building Community – Strengthening ties with both Perisher and Thredbo ski resorts, snowsports organisations and the wider school community to promote teamwork, engagement and school culture

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Development
- Design, implement and oversee the Snowsports Academy for student-athletes at both Perisher and Thredbo resorts
- Create and manage Snowsports Academy including budget, staffing, transport, program and pricing
- Seek funding opportunities and partnerships, if applicable
Ensure ongoing feedback of the Snowsports Academy is collected to drive future innovations in alignment with the school’s strategic direction
Ensure the program aligns with Snowy Mountains Grammar School’s core values and strategic themes
Support a structured pathway for students to progress in their chosen snowsports disciplines
Organise pre-season, in-season and off-season training programs, which may include a flexible delivery of programs – e.g. online modules
Foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all student-athletes
Coaching & Athlete Development
- Identify and support the development of student-athletes at all levels
- Assist in technical, tactical and mental skills training to enhance performance
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to student-athletes and families
- Schedule, plan and oversee all development opportunities including competitions and training
- Collaborate with resorts, external coaches, sporting facilities and governing bodies to ensure best practices
- Competition & Event Management
- Assist the Director of Sport in the coordination of student participation in Interschool snowsports competitions, including regional, state, and national events as well as other competitions supported by the school
- Ensure students are prepared for competitions through structured training plans and race/event strategies
- Work closely with the Director of Sport to manage team selection and squad development
Administration & Safety Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of student participation, training progress and competition results
- Create and follow safety protocols and risk management procedures for training and competition
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, including academic supervisors and resorts regarding schedules, events and expectations
Professional Behaviour
- Actively contribute to the culture of the school
- Behave in a professional and confidential manner at all times
- Submit reports of a professional standard that demonstrate an understanding of each student at the end of the season
- Respond to parent concerns in a timely and professional manner
Essential Criteria
- An ability to be an effective team member, including initiative, passion, willingness to collaborate and people management skills to drive engagement in holistic sports involvement
- Strong understanding of student-athlete development principles, including technical and technical skills
- Ability to drive a school bus (21/24-seater – LR license)
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Working with Children Check clearance
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
Preferred Criteria
- Experience working in a school-based sports program
- Snowsports specific qualification
- Knowledge of snowsports industry programs
- Familiarity with Australian Interschools snowsports competition structures
