Position & Purpose
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised, dedicated and experienced Payroll and Finance Officer to join our team.
This position will primarily be responsible for managing the preparation and processing of all payrolls, ensuring compliance, accuracy and timely delivery. The Payroll and Finance Officer will oversee employee compensation, address payroll related enquiries, manage the payroll system and contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance and payroll functions of the school.
In addition, the Payroll and Finance Officer will assist and provide day to day financial and operational support to the Finance team and the School.
You will be a team player who works collaboratively establishing rapport and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow staff. You will have a ‘can do’ attitude combined with the ability to take initiative and proactively solve problems.
You will display a high level of professionalism, confidence, presentation and a calm, positive attitude under pressure as well as the ability to maintain high levels of discretion and confidentiality in all circumstances.

Salary
Dependent on experience and qualifications and in accordance with the Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025

Permanent Full-time (with the potential for flexibility)

Key Responsibilities
Payroll
- Process fortnightly payroll for two cost centres, for approximately 100 staff
- Create and maintain personnel files
- Process and manage workers compensation claims, reconciling reimbursements and correspondence
- Calculation of termination benefits
- Preparation and payment of all State and Federal tax obligations including PAYG and Superannuation Guarantee contributions within the required timeframes
- Calculation of annual leave and leave loading to be paid at the end of the calendar year
- Calculation of staff leave entitlements, including long service leave, as required
- End of financial year payroll processing including the balancing and production of payment summaries through STP
- Streamlining processes
- Update and maintain payroll procedures
- Interpretation and application of awards and enterprise agreement
- Answer general payroll enquiries, including advice on awards, policies etc.
- Calculate and process annual pay increases, step increases and staff letters
Administration and Finance
- Manage accounts payable and payments for childcare centre
- Coding and processing of invoices and expense reimbursements
- Reconciliation of Bank accounts
- Resolve creditor issues and liaise with suppliers
- Coding, processing and reconciling the school’s credit cards and debit cards
- Manage fleet cards, toll tags, and vehicle registers
- Managing and processing the professional development records for all staff
- Assisting with updating and reconciling Faculty budgets
- Assist with administrative tasks for the Finance Office
- Backup for school reception
