About the Role

Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Limited is seeking a part-time (maternity leave) School Counsellor or Social Worker with appropriate qualifications and experience to join the team at Hills Adventist College. In this role, you will support students, their families, and staff through individual counselling, case management, group programs, and by contributing to the school’s overall wellbeing culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health support to children, adolescents, and their families
  • Deliver evidence-based group wellbeing or mental health programs
  • Collaborate with staff to foster a positive wellbeing culture
  • Manage a counselling caseload and maintain accurate records
  • Uphold ethical standards and comply with child protection legislation

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in counselling or social work
  • Experience supporting the mental health needs of children and adolescents
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent development, mental health, and risk management
  • Understanding of current NSW Child Protection legislation
  • Registration with a relevant professional regulatory body
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Current Working with Children Check and Police Check
  • Commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Code of Ethics of Sydney Adventist Schools

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Experience delivering educational presentations to staff and parents
  • Active Christian faith and values
