Role Description

Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Ltd is seeking to find an experienced and passionate school leader as a full- time principal for Wahroonga Adventist School, commencing in mid-January 2025.

Wahroonga Adventist School is a Prep to Year 12 co-education Christian School located in the leafy green suburb of Wahroonga, at the top of Sydney’s North Shore.

With a motto of “Nurture for Today, Learning for Tomorrow, Character for Eternity”, Wahroonga Adventist School provides a Christ centred and holistic approach to learning that focuses on students’ academic, physical, social/emotional and spiritual needs to ensure they are equipped with an education that prepares them for life.

The role of the principal is to lead the spiritual and academic program of the school with an emphasis on developing purposeful relationships with both staff, students and parents. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Education of Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Limited as well as working effectively with the other principals of Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney), this is an outstanding opportunity to join a successful educational ministry.

Wahroonga, Sydney, New South Wales

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • a personal faith and commitment to Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with that faith, including an active commitment as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • conflict resolution skills in managing issues that arise between students, staff and/or parents
  • excellent communication in a range of modes and for diverse audiences, including engagement and mentoring capabilities
  • a vision for teaching and learning within a vibrant and differentiated educational environment
  • warmth, integrity, energy and the passion required to engage with and inspire the school community and the wider external partnerships with whom the school collaborates

Application Requirements

The successful applicant will have:

  • an appropriate tertiary education degree
  • NESA accreditation and WWCC Clearance
  • strong understanding of child safe standards
  • the ability to meet and maintain the criteria of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the proficient level according to legislation
  • experience in educational leadership
  • a willingness to commit to the long-term stability and leadership of Wahroonga Adventist School
