Coordinator of Music P-12 – Full Time Role commencing Term 1 2025

Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this independent school caters for students across Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. Pittwater House is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic educator to join our leadership team as the Coordinator of Music P-12, commencing in Term 1, 2025. This full-time, permanent position involves leading our vibrant Music Department, overseeing both the academic curriculum and co-curricular music programs across Pre-school to Year 12.

The successful candidate will inspire and engage students in their musical education, while managing a diverse range of musical performances, events, and ensemble activities. This role requires a strong leader with a passion for fostering student growth, collaborating with staff, and contributing to the broader cultural life of the School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the P-12 Music curriculum, ensuring alignment with NESA guidelines and best practices in music education.
  • Coordinate the School’s co-curricular music program, including orchestras, choirs, and performances at key school events.
  • Mentor and support Music staff in professional learning and classroom practices.
  • Oversee the recruitment, development, and management of peripatetic Music tutors and ensemble directors.
  • Organise and manage major music events, including concerts, parent and community performances, musicals, and collaborations with other schools.

Key Attributes:

  • Relevant degree and teaching qualifications, with current NESA registration and a valid Working with Children Check.
  • Significant experience teaching music across the P-12 context, with expertise in ensemble direction.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire students and staff.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage large events and programs.
  • High-level organisational and administrative skills, including ICT competence.
  • Passion for music education and a desire to contribute to the cultural life of the School.

The Coordinator of Music P-12 is expected to fully participate in the life of the School and work collaboratively with staff and students. All staff contribute to the pastoral care and co-curricular programs (no Saturday sport) of the School.
