Role:
The Primary Music Specialist is responsible for designing and delivering music programs that align with our vision, Love Learning, and NBCS pedagogy, policy, and practice. The role includes a strong focus on Kodály and Orff approaches to foster music appreciation, enjoyment, and performance among students. In addition to classroom music, the position involves coordinating the Primary Instrumental Program (Stage 1 Strings and Stage 2 Woodwind & Brass) which involves working effectively with classroom teachers, the Music Department, and peripatetic staff.
- Design and deliver curriculum, implementing engaging K- 6 music programs
- Organise and manage the Primary Instrumental Program: support student instrumental learning to maximise progress and engagement, and coordinate peripatetic tutors to ensure smooth operations
- Work with the Director of Music to facilitate co-curricular opportunities including ensembles, festivals etc
- Organise events that highlight learning and celebrate musical achievements
Requirements
To be considered you will have:
- NESA accreditation
- a graduate qualification in Music Education
- Kodaly Levels and/or Orff Schulwerk
- experience in management of an instrumental program (preferred)
- experience working with children in K-6, within a collaborative school environment
- effective and creative teaching skills
- demonstrated strategies to cater for a variety of learners and needs
- evidence of a relational approach to colleagues, students and parents
- flexibility and resilience to respond to a dynamic learning environment
- effective organisation and the capacity to fulfil administrative requirements of a teaching role
- excellent communication skills

- NESA accreditation
- An active Christian faith with current church involvement (non-negotiable)
- Current Working With Children Check clearance
