MLC School is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Finance Manager to join the finance department on a full-time, permanent basis.

 

About the role

As the Senior Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing MLC School’s strategic vision by delivering expert financial leadership and advice. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will drive effective financial management and robust governance frameworks that underpin the school’s ongoing success. This influential position partners closely with key internal stakeholders—including property, facilities, aquatic centre teams, and department heads—to provide insightful financial guidance and empower decision-making aligned with the school’s strategic objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Advising the CFO on emerging financial issues and providing strategic recommendations.
  • Leading the development, monitoring, and reporting of operating and capital budgets.
  • Driving process and systems improvements to enhance financial management and governance.
  • Preparing insightful financial reports and critical analysis to support decision-making.
  • Managing annual audits and maintaining effective relationships with external financial partners.

 

About You

You are a detail-oriented professional with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or Business
  • Membership of Australian Society of CPAs or Chartered Institute of Accountants
  • 7–10+ years’ experience as an Accountant, ideally in a school or educational environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Project and contracts management experience.
