About the Opportunity

An exciting new opportunity has emerged for a dedicated individual to join our school as Head of Social Justice and Outreach and Teacher of Religious Education. The successful applicant will be fostering a positive learning environment and strong understanding of social justice and its integral role within a Loreto school.

This role is Permanent full-time commencing Term 1 2025.

  • Supports the Director of Faith and Identity to develop and implement the Outreach Framework and to ensure that social justice and outreach initiatives are accessible and relevant to all members of the community.
  • Teach Religious Education subjects across Years 7 – 12. Ability to teach Aboriginal Studies will be highly regarded.
  • Engage the community in an authentic knowledge and understanding of social justice and outreach which includes encounter, action and advocacy.
  • Ability to devise inclusive and sustainable social justice and outreach initiatives and programs.
  • Create a motivating and engaging learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of all students through varied teaching strategies and pedagogical practices.
  • All staff members at Loreto Normanhurst must participate in the Loreto Normanhurst Student Growth Model, which may mean being part of an Integrated Learning Team.
  • Show a commitment to pastoral care and meeting the social and emotional wellbeing of young women.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Hold relevant education qualifications including a current NESA accreditation and experience as a Religious Education teacher.
  • Possess a passion for social justice, including ecological justice, and its promotion within the organisation.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with proven capability to develop and sustain positive professional relationships across all departments.
  • Ability to work flexibly (this role includes evening and weekend work on occasion).
  • Demonstrate commitment to the values of a Catholic school in the tradition of Mary Ward, supporting and contributing to the development of the School’s values and culture.
