Overview

Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School (LAGS) is seeking a passionate and driven individual to lead our newly established rowing program. As the Head of Rowing, you will have the unique opportunity to build and develop a world-class rowing program from its inception, guiding students from beginners to national-level competitors.

This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who is excited to foster a strong club culture while mentoring students, coaches, and auxiliary staff,  requiring a significant time commitment outside of regular hours.

Duties include managing all aspects of the rowing club, bringing innovative talent identification methods, and integrating rowing into the school curriculum.  The role involves collaboration with the Director of PDHPE and the Head of Sports and Activities, and includes flexible hours during term time.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Proven experience in leading and coaching rowing teams at various levels, with a demonstrated ability to develop athletes from beginners to competitive national standards.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide students, coaches, and support staff, while fostering a positive and inclusive club culture.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management abilities, particularly in coordinating training programs, managing events such as regattas and camps, and handling administrative tasks.
  • Ability to manage resources efficiently, including overseeing boat maintenance, equipment, and facilities, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and upkeep.
  • Experience in talent identification and athlete development, with knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and mental health support strategies to enhance athlete performance.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, capable of working closely with school leadership, students, parents, and external stakeholders such as rowing clubs and community partners.
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to the Anglican Christian ethos of the School.
