ABOUT THE ROLE
The College seeks a qualified and compassionate College Counsellor to support the wellbeing of students through the delivery of individual and group-based initiatives, guidance and mental health education.

The College Counsellor works closely with students, parents, staff and external professionals to provide short-term support and facilitate access to appropriate services where needed. This position plays a key role in the promotion of student wellbeing across the College, including supporting staff understanding of student mental health and contributing to the delivery of wellbeing programs and activities.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive team committed to helping students to become resilient, independent and effective learners.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide support and information to students to assist with emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges.
-Provide information to parents that supports their understanding of student behaviour and mental health.
-Provide information to teachers and leaders that support their understanding of emotional and behavioural problems in students and how it impacts learning.
-Promote mental health and resilience by delivering on key programs.
-Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with key stakeholders
-Provide highly effective processes, information sharing and support to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students in high risk and crisis situations relating to mental health and wellbeing.
-Demonstrating leadership by contributing positively as a member of a team, actively support and promote WHS procedures and work collaboratively with all College staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

-University qualification in School Counselling, Psychology or equivalent.
-Extensive knowledge of student wellbeing and mental health issues within a school context.
-Demonstrated counselling experience working with children and adolescents.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals.
-Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and time management skills.
-High level of professionalism, confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.
-A current Working with Children Check.
-Commitment to the ethos and values of Emmanuel Anglican College.
