Head of Sport – Rowing

Cranbrook School is seeking an outstanding Head of Rowing to join our Sport Department, commencing on 27 January 2026.

ABOUT THE POSITION

This is a full-time position based at both the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill and our boat shed at Rose Bay.

The Head of Rowing will develop and manage an effective Rowing program that caters for beginners through to elite level participants in the School. This position will lead a team of Rowing Coaches to provide an engaging and inclusive program that encourages the development of skills and competitive performance.

ABOUT YOU

A qualified and experienced rowing professional, you have a demonstrated understanding of program development, implementation and management. You have extensive experience working with youth athletes and have the ability to motivate and inspire them to achieve their goals.

Capable of working collaboratively, leading a team, and possessing an exemplary understanding of best practice, you have proven expertise and the ability to coach across a broad age and ability range.

You are an excellent communicator, creative, and able to work well with students, parents and other staff. You are committed to continual professional development and reflection, and have a genuine interest in the growth of young people.

SELECTION CRITERIA

—     Australian Level 3 coaching accreditation or equivalent

—     Current Boat License

—     Previous experience in designing, implementing and managing a rowing program preferably in a school environment

—     Ability to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels, with diverse backgrounds and across a wide range of age groups

—     Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills

—     Capacity to create a motivating and engaging environment that caters to the diverse needs of student athletes

—     Genuine passion for rowing and youth sport

—     A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident

—     Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role

—     Current First Aid and CPR qualifications

—     A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

—     A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
