Cranbrook School is seeking an outstanding Psychologist to lead our Senior School Counselling team.
ABOUT THE POSITION
This is a full-time position based at the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill.
The Head of Counselling leads a team of Psychologists to provide psychological care to Senior School students. Working closely and collaboratively with the Senior School Leadership and Wellbeing teams, this role provides adolescent counselling assistance to students, works with other staff to support students and families and uses their psychological expertise to develop and implement broader programs for education and wellbeing support. The Head of Counselling contributes to the School’s student wellbeing framework to promote the wellbeing of all students.

ABOUT YOU
A progressive, enthusiastic and dedicated psychologist, you have a strong understanding of adolescent development and the demonstrated ability to counsel students in support of their social and emotional wellbeing.
You are an excellent communicator, creative, and are able to work well with students, parents and other staff. You are committed to continual professional development and reflection, and have a genuine interest in the growth of young people.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Professional Psychologist Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Eligibility for registration with Australian Psychological Society (APS) and other relevant professional bodies
- Master of Psychology or a Master of Teaching (School Counselling) will be highly regarded. Preference given to those with Postgraduate qualifications in Psychology.
- A minimum of five years’ counselling experience in a senior school context
- Experience leading a team of psychologists or counsellors
- Highly organised, detail-focused, resourceful and inclusive
- Able to communicate and collaborate with people at all levels, with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of age groups
- Demonstrated expertise in using evidence-based practices to effectively inform counselling practice
- Able to take ownership of tasks, demonstrate initiative and produce work of a consistently high standard
- A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident
- Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
Experience working in an independent school setting will be advantageous.
