Science Teacher

The Science teacher is responsible for delivering effective, engaging, and evidence-based instruction within the Science Key Learning Area. This includes fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry across junior and senior levels. Teachers are expected to support the College ethos, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to student wellbeing and academic success.

 

Key Responsibilities 

Teaching and Learning 

  • Deliver lessons in line with the IB and NESA curriculum.
  • Plan, assess, and report on student progress in accordance with College guidelines.
  • Conduct practical investigations safely and effectively.
  • Differentiate learning to meet individual student needs.
  • Integrate digital technologies to enhance learning.

 

Curriculum and Assessment 

  • Design and evaluate teaching programs using relevant data.
  • Develop learning materials that reflect current scientific understanding.
  • Support students in internal and external science assessments.

Professional Engagement 

  • Engage in professional development and College-based training.
  • Collaborate with Science department staff and across faculties.
  • Maintain teaching accreditation and meet NESA/IB standards.

 

Pastoral/Co-curricular & Islamic ethos

  • Contribute to the wellbeing and support of all students.
  • Participate in College co-curricular and community events.
  • Promote student participation in activities and competitions.
  • Contribute to Islamic events and planning
  • Abide by the schools Islamic ethos including dress code and respect
  • Attend school Islamic events that are implemented in the school calendar

Selection Criteria 

Essential 

  • NESA-accredited teacher with teaching experience.
  • Strong understanding of IB/NESA curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to Islamic values and the College’s mission.
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance.

 

Desirable 

  • Experience teaching in IB World Schools.
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based and STEM learning.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in education or science.
