Permanent full-time position – Commence Term 1, 2026.
Reporting to the Head of Sport and Head of Co-Curricular (Stage 3) via the Head of Football, the Assistant Head of Football will support the leadership, administration, coordination, and delivery of the College Football Program from Years 5 to 12. This role focuses on ensuring consistency in coaching and training, particularly across lower-graded teams, while fostering a positive Football culture that promotes teamwork, resilience and College spirit.
- Key Responsibilities
Support the Head of Football in the leadership, development, and management of the Football Program. - Ensure consistent coaching and training delivery across all teams, with a focus on lower-graded squads.
- Monitor student and coach attendance and follow up as required.
- Provide mentorship and induction support to less experienced coaches.
- Manage operational aspects of home match days, including field set-up, referees, equipment, results and parent/staff liaison.
- Assist in organising camps, tours, filming sessions, and special training opportunities.
- Uphold player discipline, sportsmanship, and College values across all grades.
- Contribute to planning, monitoring and review of the Football Curriculum and program outcomes.
- Support the Annual Presentation Evening and other recognition events.
- Coach or supervise a College Football team as required.
- Undertake other relevant duties as directed by the Head of Football, Head of Sport, or Director of Co-Curricular.
- Essential Criteria
A working understanding of, and commitment to the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition. - Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
- AFC B Level qualifications as a minimum
Experience in a Football coaching or administrative role within a school or club environment. - Strong knowledge of coaching strategies, technical and tactical development, and student engagement.
- Ability to mentor and support other coaches.
- Excellent organisational, coordination, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and external providers.
- Commitment to fostering student wellbeing, discipline, and sportsmanship in line with the College’s Catholic ethos.
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance.
- First Aid qualifications or willingness to undertake.
