Abbotsleigh is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable teacher to join our dynamic Social Science department on a 12-month contract commencing Term 1, 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to teach Stage 6 Economics and/or Business Studies, and Stage 5 Commerce, in a school that values academic excellence, real-world learning, and student empowerment.
We are looking for an educator who brings energy to the classroom, enjoys working with motivated students, and is committed to fostering critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and financial literacy. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative team that values innovation, professional growth, and meaningful learning experiences.
About the Role
The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge, competence, and confidence in:
- Teaching Stage 6 Economics and Business Studies, and Stage 5 Commerce
- Designing engaging lessons that promote economic and business inquiry, critical thinking, and global awareness
- Supporting students in developing skills in research, data analysis, financial literacy, and enterprise thinking
- Contributing to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
- Participating in pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing
- Engaging in whole-school programs and co-curricular activities
Qualifications and Experience
- Accreditation with NESA and relevant tertiary qualifications in Economics and/or Business education
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in teaching Stage 6 syllabuses (Economics and/or Business Studies)
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to professional learning and reflective practice
